Plot: The mythical world starts a rebellion against humanity in order to rule the Earth, so Hellboy and his team must save the world from the rebellious creatures.
The story idea was good and most of the characters were well played and well developed. The ending was totally obvious. The romance was good and there is a very memorabe scene but it is not worth going to the big screen to see.
I was expecting so much more from this Hellboy, but it didn't seem to live up to my expectations. It was good but I think the character development was a bit loose.
I went in the cinema expecting this to be good but it turned out to be awesome. This is so much better than the first one.
the FX so amazing..salute to ron perlman, behind that thick prosthetic he can act so well..hellboy has twin?hahaha..sorry I spoil it..
Awesome action scenes and beautiful monsters are watered down a bit by silly slapstick and Abe's romance.
great visual impact, mostly because of Del Toro's direction (strong resemblance to Laberinto del Fauno) but the plot is not convincing at all.
Another Del Toro masterpiece, it explores the typical superhero conundrum of laying low or revealing there secret...
Del Toros imagination pallette runs wild again feeding the screen with various demons and monsters all brought together with a surreal duet of Barry Manilow proportions.
im not such a big fan of hellboy, but it was good... humorous and action packet!, very entertaining... liked it better than the first...
Definitely on a par with the original movie, Del Toro scores another hit which is probably tied with Dark Knight for second place in the best summer movies category. Ron Perlman puts in another top notch performance as Hellboy, and Selma Blair is given more time as his girlfriend. The movie belongs to Luke Goss, as the evil prince, Doug Jones as the Merman and Seth MacFarlane as the voice of the German smoke-man.
This is one of those rare cases were a sequel is better than the original. You've still got some great action with a bit of comedy, but what really impressed me is how visually impressive the film is. Obviously Del Toro has now been given a bit more creative freedom with the film, and he is certainly a director going somewhere.
Lots of "weird" creatires on this sequel....better action but less in story, unfortunately....but I'd still give it two thumb up tho ;P
It's a good sequel, this film delve a little more into the characters & brought forth some good villians!
i think the whole underworld monster thing is kinda...wierd. not scary but wierd. i don't really wanna c it but why not?
Haven't seen the first one, so wasn't expecting much, but I really enjoyed it. I like fantasy and sci-fi and this is the perfect mix. Not for everyone, but the narrative is classic comic book, and the characters are likeable.
The return of Hellboy blasts off with 'The Golden Army'.
Hellboy (Ron Pearlman), no longer wanting to hide away, discovers an entire underworld, where all the non-humans live.
One of these creatures is Prince Nuada (Luke goss), an Elf prince who long ago battled agains tthe humans using the Golden Army - thousands of large unstoppable robotic creatures.
Now wanting to bring back the golden Army, Nuada must find the three sections of the golden crown as whoever wears the crown can control the army.
Aided us usualy by his now girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair) and Abe (Doug Jones) and by his new boss Johann Krauss (Seth MacFarlane), Hellboy must defeat Nuada in order to save the world!
Pearlman once again is on top form as the big red - his portrayal of Hellboy is brilliant! Doug jones and Selma Blair are also on top form.
The strange world that director Guillermo del Toro has created is amazing visually - and most of his creatures ar epuppets of costumes - something that is refreshing to see in a CG world.
Bigger, bolder and more imaginitive then the first film, 'The Golden Army' is a must see for Hellboy fans and newcommers alike. Plus throught the film there are hints to a third installment - somehting I greatly look forward to!
Hellboy is just as awe inspiring and just as much fun as its first outing, but even moreso with its deeper focus on characters without feeling like a introduction. Heaps of fun.
Hellboy is one hell of a devil. He is so cool, smart and real funny. The movie is surprisingly good. The make-up looked like that of Pan's Labyrinth. The movie is so magical and engaging.
a let down of massive proportions. i saw it twice, and trust it's better with a nice little distraction in your arms, trust me...
once again hellboy has failed to make the jump to the big screen, a demonstration at how the comic was based more around the art style, and lacked the necessary character depth you see in modern batman tales, or if a film was made of the watchmen....
the plot was crazy, the characters 2-dimensional.... although the action was exciting this doesn't quite cut it with this viewer...
Eh, it was alright
nothing too amazing or memorable
the special effects makeup was awesome though!
and fighting scenes
especially the blonde dudes moves.. pwa!!!
it was quite funny also
reminded me of iron man, sin city and a sprinkle of star wars all wrapped into one!
Man, c'mon!
Guillermo del Toro.
It's bound to be awesome.
EDIT: AND IT WAS
:D
also witty and funny.
it took me a while to see the first one but i knew the next 1 wudn't be as gud if they ever made any more...i was right! this is too slow although there's enough action in it and much more weirdos but the storyline lacks a solid form. The script is poor and tries to be funny but it's lame.
classic movie better than the first but that was good 2 great effects good story and great comedy go hellboy
I seen Hellboy 2 last week pretty cool Movie,....But the Golen Army is not in it for long about the last five minutes...HMMM!!! But it's Worth going too see in the Cinema.... :D
